Online Therapy

While face-to-face counselling or therapy is the preferred way of working with people, sometimes this is not possible due to personal circumstances. Some of these could be:

​

  • Living in an area where there is limited or no access to counselling or psychotherapy

  • Transportation difficulties

  • You are living overseas

  • Illness or disability makes travelling inconvenient or difficult or

  • A pandemic, which means you are unable to access the benefits of counselling and psychotherapy.

 

Online therapy makes it possible for you to have the benefits counselling and psychotherapy can offer, without needing to leave your home. Providing you have access to a computer and a video conferencing app, counselling or psychotherapy is available to you online. Some of the free conferencing apps I use are listed below:

  • FaceTime - this comes preinstalled on all Apple devices

​​

  • Zoom - https://zoom.us/this is a product that is easy to use and is becoming more popular among personal users. It is free to download. Zoom is available for download on most devices.

​

Some further points that are important to consider when choosing online therapy, to minimise stress are:

 

  • The wi-fi connection is adequate from the location you will be using for the sessions.

​

  • The room or location you will be using is private and that you will not be disturbed or overheard by anyone, to ensure you can talk freely.

 

  • It is important to me that you feel as comfortable as possible during our session.  With this in mind please think about where you would be comfortable to sit and have refreshments at hand.

 

  • Having somewhere suitable to place your device so you don’t have to keep adjusting or holding your device, which could get uncomfortable for the duration of a full session.

 

  • Testing your device is working satisfactorily beforehand can help to minimise any technical issues during your session avoiding possible disappointment and allowing you to spend your time getting the most out of your session with me.

Individual sessions are 50 minutes and cost $150.

 

Couples sessions are 1 hour 20 minutes and cost $230. Payment can be made by cash or online on the day of your appointment.
